Toshiba Just Recalled Over 100,000 Batteries That Are Melting Laptops

If you’re the owner of a Toshiba laptop, there’s a chance its battery could overheat and go kaboom and melt your machine—which is why the Japanese electronics giant recalled a bunch of Panasonic battery packs this week.

The company announced that some of the lithium-ion Panasonic battery packs are prone to overheating which could spark fires and puts customers at risk for burns. Over 100,000 computers sold in the United States and Canada are at risk. The batteries were sold with in 39 models of the Toshiba Portege, Satellite, and Tecra laptops.

According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, no injuries have been reported yet, but Toshiba has received four complaints of battery packs overheating and melting. Any number overheating electronics are no fun, so make sure you take the proper precautions.
