Presidential candidate Donald Trump has a penchant for lawsuits, much like another Republican convention speaker. Today Trump gave a speech in Gettysburg, where he vowed to sue the many, many women who have accused him of sexual abuse. The Republican nominee said he is fighting “the power structure,” and that his administration would not approve of AT&T trying to buy Time Warner “and thus, CNN.”
“Deals like this destroy American democracy,” Trump continued. “They’re trying to poison the mind of the American voter. Every woman lied when they came forward to hurt my campaign. Total fabrication. The events never happened. Never. All these liars will be sued after the election.”
Shortly after, trump-clock.com appeared, which counts down how long it’s been since Trump has threatened a lawsuit and details his entire history of threatening lawsuits. The site says:
Trump knows that he doesn’t have to actually sue — getting an ominous letter from a lawyer is often enough to scare into silence. On rare occasions, Trump has actually followed through on his threats, dragging critics and journalists through years of litigation just to make them spend money to defend themselves. He has never won one of these lawsuits and has boasted about wasting critics’ time and money on defending frivolous lawsuits.
Currently, it’s only been a little over an hour since Trump threatened his most recent lawsuit. I’d be surprised if the clock ever ran longer than two days, but then again, it’s 2016 and anything could happen.
