Be prepared for bustin’ to make you feel good once more. Following its opening weekend at the box office, the new Ghostbusters movie is apparently already doing well enough that a sequel is all but guaranteed.

While it’s not officially official (as silly a denotation as that is), speaking in the wake of Ghostbusters’ $46 million dollar taking this weekend in the U.S., Sony Picture’s president of worldwide distribution Rory Bruer has told The Wrap that Ghostbusters 2: This Will Be Way Better Than the First Ghostbusters 2 is on the cards:

The Ghostbusters world is alive and well, I expect Ghostbusters to become an important brand and franchise. While nothing has been officially announced yet, there’s no doubt in my mind it will happen.

So it’s not Sony Pictures coming out and saying Ghostbusters 2 is happening, but it’s a major Sony executive telling us he’s got no doubt it’ll happen—it’s close enough. And it’s not particularly surprising considering that we learned about nascent plans (that are still up in the air) to keep the franchise going even before the movie was released.

But one thing’s clear: Sony has a lot of faith in this new era for Ghostbusters. And while the film wasn’t perfect, it was enough of a laugh we’d love to see a sequel that spends more time with these characters. Hopefully, we’ll get that officially official announcement soon.
