Take a Fascinating Tour Behind the Scenes of The Shining

What was it like working on the set of legendary film director Stanley Kubrick as he adapted The Shining, Stephen King's bestselling horror story, to the silver screen? If these cast and crew interviews from the new documentary Staircases to Nowhere, are any indication, the answer is: pretty dang awesome.

Unlike 2012's conspiracy theory-laden Room 237, Staircases to Nowhere focuses instead on the nuts and bolts of the film's production, as described by nine cast and crew members as well as Kubrick's widow, Christiane. The film actually began as an 18 minute short created from footage compiled as part of the The Elstree Project, a history of the movie studios at Elstree and Borehamwood, England but received such high praise from audiences that it was later expanded to its current 55 minute format. In fact, Staircases has been so well reviewed that both Warner Bros. Studios and the Kubrick Estate have both endorsed the film—an honor no other modern Kubrick documentary can boast.
