Free Speech Doesn't Mean You Can Say What the Hell You Like Online

Your right to free speech means that the government can't arrest you for what you say, but it doesn't means that anyone—anyone—has to listen the crap you come out with.

In today's XKCD, Randall Munroe remind us that the first amendment doesn't mean you can say whatever you want and suffer no consequences—just suffer no jail term. As he explains:

"I can't remember where I heard this, but someone once said that defending a position by citing free speech is sort of the ultimate concession; you're saying that the most compelling thing you can say for your position is that it's not literally illegal to express."
