Very few people will ever have the chance to ride the insanely valuable Triple Crown-winning American Pharoah. So on a recent morning workout, the racehorse’s jockey strapped a 360-degree GoPro rig to their helmet—allowing the rest of us to come as close as we’ll ever get to riding the steed.
If you’ve got access to a VR helmet or viewer, the simulated experience of riding American Pharaoh around California’s Del Mar race track will be even more immersive (even without a crowd of thousands cheering you onto victory). But the rest of us will have to be content with firing up Chrome or downloading GoPro’s Kolor app in order to saddle up—or pretend to.
