Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

On a recent Facebook Q & A, James Gunn revealed Marvel is considering introducing Nova to their roster of characters, and that the third Guardians movie will set-up “the next 10-20 years of Marvel movies”.

Nova comes up occasionally as someone we might use. One of the things I’m doing with creating Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 – that will take place after the next two Avengers movies – and it will help to setup the next 10-20 years of Marvel movies. It’s going to really expand the cosmic universe. We’re going to be setting up new characters. It will be the last movie of this version of Guardians of the Galaxy.

Hellboy

On a recent episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, David Harbour revealed the film will not be an origin story, and instead opens with a sequence similar to Raiders of the Lost Ark:

There is some (explanation of Hellboy), but it’s not really an origin story movie. We kind of pick up the movie like we’re running and gunning. We do have a little bit of stuff where we show stuff, but it really is a story and you just drop in with this guy. So in a way, I feel like that’s kind of what Indiana Jones was. You start with him stealing the idol, but also you do go back to the university and you understand he’s an archaeologist, you understand these things, but this is just a guy who goes and steals idols and fights Nazis and wants to steal the Arc of the Covenant. But you never go back when he’s a kid and you’re like, ‘How did he become Indiana Jones?’ It’s like no, we accept that this is Indiana Jones and I think that’s kind of what our story does too. You accept that there’s this half-demon guy running around the world and being a paranormal investigator and solving crimes and also dealing with his own issues at the same time.

Harbour also explained how his performance will differ from Ron Perlman’s.

There are things I’m going to do that are different than that. Hellboy is the same character from the comics, and from what Ron did. There are certain things that are the same thing. There’s a different approach. Ron sort of embraces this machismo in himself and in Hellboy, that kind of is this thing, and I really like it and I think it’s super fun and it’s a super fun performance, but I think Hellboy has a certain psycho dynamic where occasionally he has to prove that he’s the lion and has to roar, but I think he struggles with his own masculinity. But I don’t think he needs that as much as maybe those other movies did. I have a bit of a different take on his capability or his slickness. I sort of think that for me he’s a little less skilled at constructing that persona.

Salt shakers at the ready, but a post to the DCEU Leaks Reddit claims that the film’s soundtrack includes a song by Imagine Dragons called “Unite the Seven”—which could hint at the appearance of a seventh, unannounced member of the League dropping by for a cameo.

Gambit

While appearing as a guest on the Hey U Guys podcast, Channing Tatum confirmed the solo Gambit film has “started over” from scratch:

I look for a personal connection to the movies I make and it may not be immediately obvious…In every story, I have a personal connection… With Gambit, I just never found that personal way in. We lit a fuse on the first one and just blew it completely out of the water. I think we got lucky – we got hit with some setbacks and it was all for a good reason.

We were trying to do something completely different. We were trying to do something that this genre of movie hasn’t seen before. We kept running into the same problems, and then Deadpool and Logan came through and kicked the doors down. Now we’re really getting to do some of the things we’ve always wanted to do with the script – we’ve just sort of started over.

Godzilla vs. Kong

Adam Wingard revealed to /Film the rematch between King Kong and Godzilla will be set in the present day, to coincide with the continuity of the modern-set Godzilla movies:

No, ours is more in continuity with the sequel to Godzilla right now. They’re doing Godzilla 2 with Mike Dougherty directing, so our film is in [the] present day. We have a couple characters from Godzilla 2 in ours, but it’ll be interesting to see how Kong has fared over the years. You see him in that film and he’s just constantly under attack. Things are going wrong and there’s probably been lots of human intervention since then. It’ll be interesting to see a more rugged, a bit more aged Kong in this film.

Game Of Thrones

Director Alan Taylor told Huffington Post about Sansa and Arya’s tumultuous relationship, even hinting that it’s meant to feel for the audience that either one of the sisters could be doomed by the time the show has come to a close.

I think both characters have been through absolute hell since the death of their father in very different ways, and have turned into absolute lethal individuals. We’re very aware of how lethal Arya is, because she’s displayed it over and over again. But I love the fact that the tables do turn back and forth between them; it really is a shifting back and forth of power between them in those scenes we had. And when Sophie says she won the Battle of the Bastards, she’s right. I love the fact that these two come back, they’re both lethal, and I just wanted to give the impression, as much as possible, that one of them is going to die. But you’re not sure which one.

Legends of Tomorrow

Speaking to DC Legends TV, producer Phil Klemmer revealed Captain Cold will be the polar opposite of the Leonard Snart we’re familiar with in the show’s third season, thanks to time-travel shenanigans:

It will be about as polar opposite as the Snart that he’s played on our show. We’ve got a cool pitch to justify that version of him, which I don’t want to give away. But it’s going to be really traumatic for Mick Rory, because he has deified this version of his dead partner in his head, and in a way, Snart’s return is his greatest wish come true, but the fact that he doesn’t get the version that he’s held in the back of his mind is deeply unsettling. Rory’s made a lot of progress as well in the meantime, but he’s certainly not ready to call himself a hero.
