Remember that fridge box you turned into a rocket ship as a kid, complete with crayon-drawn control panels and a fancy sparkle glue paint job? Yeah, that was an embarrassment to our nation compared to this NASA simulator that Jeff Highsmith designed and built for his sons.

You might remember Jeff from the awesome mission control desk he created earlier this year, which now actually interfaces with his newly built spaceship simulator thanks to a fully functional intercom system. Inside the sim's got authentic switches, buttons, dials, knobs, LED readouts, sound effects, a robot arm, and even a sub-woofer to recreate the rumble of a launch. Short of actually flying, it does everything a space-obsessed kid could possibly want. [Make via Tastefully Offensive]
